3 hours** is all you need to see the Grand Canyon and so much more. Your Grand Canyon adventure begins with shuttle service from your hotel to the Papillon Helicopter terminal at the Boulder City Municipal Airport. After boarding Papillon’s 6-passenger Bell Jet helicopter, you’ll soar above the vast expanse of the Mojave Desert en route to the structure that shaped the history of the American West: Hoover Dam.

Golden Eagle Helicopter tour over Hoover Dam.Completed in 1935, the Hoover Dam facilitated the irrigation of farmlands, generation of electricity and the storage of water in times of drought. It not only helped the Southwest out of the Depression, it transformed the Western United States into the economic powerhouse you see today. Behind it, Lake Mead stretches placidly eastward.

As you glide over the sparkling blue waters of one of the world’s largest man-made lakes, the channel narrows and the Grand Wash Cliffs rise before you – the Grand Canyon is up ahead! Cut by the Colorado River, the depths of the Grand Canyon exceed 4,500’ at this part of the gorge, the Southern rim of which is home to the Hualapai Indian Tribe.

Known in their native language as “The People of the Tall Pines,” the Hualapai Indian Tribe run a hospitality enterprise on this side of the canyon known as Grand Canyon West. Typified by steep cliffs and virtual lack of guardrails, visitors to this side of the canyon can often be seen crawling on all fours to take a photo! Photo opportunities will abound for you too out your helicopter’s oversized window. Since helicopters fly lower than airplanes, you’ll have the feeling of being “up close and personal” with the Grand Canyon’s massive rock formations.

Finally, it’s time to head back to Boulder City, where shuttles wait to return you to your hotel.
**Flight length is approximately 50 minutes; allow 3 hours for the entire experience from hotel to hotel.
Pickups from Major Hotels on the Strip are 60 - 90 minutes prior to departure times.
