Grand Canyon Jeep Tour
If your Grand Canyon vacation is short on time, money or both, you can still make it fun and memorable by joining the Grand Canyon Jeep Tour!
On the Grand Canyon Jeep Tour, just 2 hours is all the time you’ll need to get away from the crowds, and take a trip back through the Grand Canyon’s history. This tour begins from the Grand Canyon gateway community of Tusayan, where Grand Canyon Old West Jeep Tours will pick you up at any Tusayan hotel, or McDonald’s.

After boarding your custom-built Jeep, you’ll enjoy an off-road adventure down a turn-of-the-century stagecoach road, deep in the ancient Kaibab National Forest. Back in the “olden days,” tourists took this very trip in horse-drawn carriages. Fortunately, you’ll get where you’re going a lot faster today. As you pass historic homesteads tucked amidst fragrant Ponderosa pines, keep your focus sharp: deer and elk are frequently spotted on this tour. This is a rare opportunity to observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
En route to the canyon rim, you’ll see other historic structures such as a fire lookout tower which, believe it or not, was built during the Great Depression, but is still in service today. You’ll even see the park’s old entrance gate – it’s hard to imagine this simple hut handling today’s throngs of visitors! But those crowds will seem far away as you experience aspects of the Grand Canyon few even know exist.
Eventually, the Grand Canyon itself awaits you. At Grandview Point, a stunning, yet lesser known viewpoint, you’ll see all the way down to the heart of the Grand Canyon – the Colorado River - and get to know characters such as John Hance, who attempted to mine copper from Horseshoe Mesa; and Peter Berry, who built the Grand Canyon’s first visitor services complex mere yards from where you stand today. Though little remains of these ventures in the physical sense, their stories will become a part of your Grand Canyon memories.
As you head back to Tusayan via Highway 64, you’ll be amazed at how much you saw, how much you learned, and how much you saved – in just 2 hours. Now that’s value!
The Grand Canyon Jeep Tour has several departures daily, times vary by season. Reserve your seats today!
