Where Should We Stay at the Grand Canyon?

What you’ll learn in this video:

  • Why this is the most important video to watch in this series
  • Why Grand Canyon park lodging is so hard to get reservations for
  • Why you might not want to stay in the park in the first place
  • Why you might prefer to stay an hour or more away from the park
  • How to make reservations for hotels at the Grand Canyon or its gateway communities

Where to find what YOU want to know:
:50 - Supply and Demand (or lack of the former and too much of the latter [sound familiar?]):  Sure, Grand Canyon National Park has several hundred hotel rooms – but it also hosts several thousand visitors every day!  Do a little math and it’s no surprise that Grand Canyon park lodging is typically booked 6 months or
more in advance.

1:24 – Location, location, location… and what you’ll sacrifice for it:
The ability to see the canyon from your hotel is “grand,” but none of the Grand Canyon park hotels have the amenities that many traveling families take for granted, such as pools, in-room internet, continental breakfast, and nighttime activities.  If you’ve got to have it, you’ve got to go out of park.

2:00 – A Grand Canyon hike by day, a soak in the Jacuzzi by night!  The gateway community of Tusayan is just 10 minutes from the rim, with 5 family-friendly hotels.  Which one is right for your family?  Start watching here.

2:42 – Another reason why you’ll like Tusayan: The spectacular IMAX film presentation “Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets” is shown here, within walking distance of all Tusayan hotels.

3:00 How a little time in the car can save you big bucks:  The closer you get to the canyon, the more you’ll pay for your lodging.  If you don’t mind a little driving, you can save money by staying in the gateway communities of Williams, Flagstaff or even Page.

5:59 – The best of both worlds (and both sides of the Grand Canyon): By staying in Page Arizona, you’re not only  on the shores of Lake Powell, but within equal driving distance of the Grand Canyon’s North AND South Rims!
