This amazing adventure is tailor-made for visitors staying in Williams or Flagstaff. Upon pickup at your hotel or other designated location, you’ll make your way to the park, stopping first at the Grand Canyon Aviation History Museum in Valle Arizona. From there, you’ll head to Grand Canyon National Park Airport where you’ll board a state of the art Eco-Star EC130 helicopter for a 30-minute flight over the deepest, widest and most spectacular part of the Grand Canyon, the Dragon Corridor!
Next, you’ll sit down to enjoy the fantastic IMAX presentation “Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets.” In just 40 minutes, you’ll walk with the Ancestral Puebloans on the banks of the Colorado, and run the rapids with Major John Wesley Powell. After the movie, you’ll enjoy lunch at the IMAX Theatre food court.
After lunch, you enter Grand Canyon National Park. As you enjoy the views of the Grand Canyon’s East Rim Drive and Kaibab National Forest, watch for deer, elk and other wildlife. At the Tusayan Indian Ruins, you’ll step 800 years back in time, as you learn about the ancient peoples that called the canyon home, and ponder why, quite suddenly, they disappeared from this area.
At Desert View Point, the highest point on the South Rim, you’ll learn about Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, one of America’s first prominent woman architects. Her creation, the Desert View Watchtower, is a National Historic Landmark which resembles structures found in Ancestral Puebloan communities throughout the Southwest. Got energy? Climb to the top of the tower and marvel at the spectacular view that awaits you, from the canyon rim, all the way down to the Unkar Delta of the Colorado River!
At Grand Canyon Village, even “grander” views await you! Stroll the paved rimside trail at Yavapai Point as you learn about the powerful forces that created the Grand Canyon before continuing on to the Grand Canyon Village, where you’ll view National Historic Landmarks, some over 100 years old. Here you’ll have time to shop for mementos of your visit before heading back to Williams or Flagstaff.
